About the distillery
The Imperial distillery was a producer of single malt Scotch whisky located in Carron, Speyside that operated sporadically between 1897 and 1998. It was demolished in 2013. Imperial was mothballed and reopened several times in its hundred-year history. The only official bottling was a 15-year expression, released in the mid 1990s.
In 2015, a new distillery, Dalmunach, was built on the same site by Chivas Brothers.
Founded by Thomas MacKenzie in 1897, Imperial Distillery was situated in Carron on the banks of the river Spey and drew its water from the Ballintomb Burn.
The distillery closed in 1998 and has been subsequently demolished.
This whisky was distilled in 1996 and bottled in 2015 by Gordon & MacPhail.
